Work Package 6
Design
of an Information System
A demonstrator of an Environmental Visualization and Information System (ELVIS) will be designed and developed.
Within ELVIS various types of data, informational products and modelling results provided by the work packages of the CAWa project will be integrated and visualized. Thus, ELVIS will be the platform to exchange and share the different data sets.
In envisaged following project phases it is anticipated to integrate ELVIS in the existing application and data base network within Central Asia.
ELVIS is intended to support scientists, water managers and decision makers in their daily work with data and information related to water availability and water usage. In 2009, the first version of the ELVIS demonstrator was developed.
The specific objectives of work package 6 are:
- Integration of HyMet station data from WP1 into the information system
- Setup of new tasks in the graphical user interface, based on open source software, to view, analyse and report data in a geographical manner
- Setup of a reporting engine with example report templates to automatically generate reports from data of the information system
- Integration of one semi- automatic process chain to generate higher quality remote sensing products within the information system
- Optimization of data integration procedures into the information system
