Between 19th and 20th September 2009, representatives of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) met with Prof. Dr. Ibatullin, director of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS), further representatives of EC IFAS, and other Kazakh research institutions.

DLR representatives meet with EC IFAS and further representatives of Kazakh institutions in Almaty.

The potential of collaboration with EC IFAS and Kazakh institutions on all CAWa project topics in general and on remote sensing and information systems in specific were discussed. The EC IFAS showed great interest to include the CAWa project or parts of it into the Aral Sea Basin Program (ASBP-3) which is presently being developed for the period 2011-2015.
