CAIAG, a joint initiative of the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences and the Kyrgyz Republic's government, welcomed numerous scientists from 12 countries, along with representatives from Central Asian ministries, specialized agencies, and international organizations. Participants reflected on the Institute's accomplishments and explored future challenges.
Dr. Abror Gafurov and Dr. Milena Latinovic represented Green Central Asia at the event, sharing insights from their ongoing work on water-related challenges in the region. Dr. Gafurov also chaired a session “Global change and regional development in Central Asia: impacts on water resources and the cryosphere”. Scientific Executive Director of GFZ, Potsdam, Prof. Dr. Susanne Buiter and Dr. Oliver Bens who was previously re-elected as a co-director of CAIAG in the next term also attended the event.
