Second CAWa Workshop with Central Asian Hydromet Services held successfully

For two days, from December 17 to 18, 2009, specialists from Central Asian and German research institutions and water agencies met in Bishkek for their second CAWa Workshop.

 

Participants included representatives from the Central Asian National Hydrometeorological Services, the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, the German Research Centre for Geosciences and the Central Asian Institute for Applied Geosciences as well as representatives from international cooperation organizations.

During the workshop, the specialists discussed the equipment of the CAWa monitoring stations and identified their potential locations. Besides, the participants decided on the data format which is going to be used for data transmission and exchange. The program included also the visit of the first monitoring station installed in the frame of the CAWa project in Baitik, around 40 km south of Bishkek.

The Central Asian Institute for Applied Geosciences in Bishkek kindly organized and hosted the event.
