The Young Scientist School 2024

The Young Scientist School (YSS), now in its second iteration, was once again organized at the TIIAME National University in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. YSS took place from the 29th to the 31st of July 2024 as part of the CLIMWATER project, a collaborative effort between Uzbekistan and Germany, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany and the Agency for Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The school officially commenced with a welcome speech by Prof. Bakhodir Mirzaev, Rector of TIIAME NRU, and Dr. Abror Gafurov, Coordinator of the CLIMWATER project.

Over the course of three days, participants had the opportunity to learn about climate modeling, groundwater analysis, and monitoring water resources in Uzbekistan using remote sensing. Around 15 participants attended lectures and engaged in hands-on exercises led by Dr. Abror Gafurov and Dr. Milena Latinovic from GFZ Potsdam, Dr. Stefan Meyer from UFZ Leipzig, Phillip Schuster and Alexander Georgi from Humboldt University Berlin, and Dr. Gulomjon Umirzakov from the National University of Uzbekistan. The event provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, further strengthening the ties between scientists from Uzbekistan and Germany.
