GFZ Potsdam as part of BMBF Delegation to Uzbekistan (InnoWeek)

The Federal Ministry of Research and Education (BMBF) visited  Uzbekistan to attend InnoWeek-2023 organized by the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

 

The delegation was joined by Dr. Abror Gafurov, the coordinator of the CAWa-Green project (Green Central Asia Program), as well as the CLIMWATER project. The InnoWeek-2023 took place from October 16-20, 2023 in Tashkent.

During the visit, the BMBF Delegation also visited the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIAME) National Research University (NRU) – a close partner of the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ Potsdam). The delegation was led by Dr. Gabriele Hermani, head of the department 212 of BMBF. From GFZ side, Dr. Ludwig Stroink head of the international department as well as Dr. Abror Gafurov, attended the visit to TIIAME NRU in Uzbekistan.

On the 20th of October, the delegation joined the 6th Tashkent Water Security Lectures, organized by GFZ Potsdam and TIIAME in the frame of the Green Central Asia program funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.

Besides the visit to TIIAME, GFZ Potsdam also participated in several sessions of  InnoWeek-2023. Among others, a German-Uzbek Science day was organized on October 18th, where GFZ Potsdam and CLIMWATER project were presented by Dr. Ludwig Stroink and Dr. Abror Gafurov.
