CAWa Summer School 2018: Call for Applications
The Call for applications for the annual CAWa Summer School "Methods and Tools for the Assessment and Monitoring of Central Asian Water and Land Resources" has been opened. Please submit your documents by 30 April 2018. The Summer School is the fifth in a row and will be held from 11 to 22 June 2018 at the German-Kazakh University in Almaty.
CAWa Project Meeting in Tashkent on the "Validation Strategy for Land Use Classification"
Within the CAWa project, the Department of Remote Sensing at the University of Würzburg (Germany) and the Scientific Information Center of the Interstate Coordination Water Commission (SIC ICWC) in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) held a meeting on ‘Validation Strategy for land use classification’. This meeting was organized within the Work package III: “Online Tool for Monitoring of Land and Water Use Efficiency” on 27th February – 1st March 2018 at SIC ICWC.

CAWa ученые в тесном сотрудничестве с центральноазиатскими партнерскими организациями разработали несколько инструментов, направленных на улучшение управления трансграничными водами.
Это широкий спектр инструментов связанных с управлением водными ресурсами, таких как гидрометеорологические наблюдения в высокогорных районах, мониторинг уровня воды на основе радаров альтиметрия, мониторинг снежного покрова в оперативном режиме, оценка интенсивности использования земли на основе дистанционного зондирование, а также удобные для пользователя алгоритмы прогнозирования сезонных осадков и речного стока. В брошюре дается обзор инструментов CAWa. Заинтересованные пользователи приветствуются!

WUEMoCA Administrator Training as a Follow-up of the Server Transfer to the SIC ICWC
From October 24 to 27, the Scientific Information Center - Interstate Coordination Water Commission of Central Asia (SIC ICWC) in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and the Department of Remote Sensing at the University of Würzburg (Germany) conducted a first joint WUEMoCA administrator training for IT-specialists, programmers as well as GIS and remote sensing experts at the SIC ICWC.
Workshop on "Methods and Tools for the Assessment and Monitoring of Central Asian Water Resources" hold at TIIAME
In the frame of CAWa Project, the first workshop on "Methods and Tools for the Assessment and Monitoring of Central Asian Water Resources" at TIIAME (Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers) was held in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) on 7-8 August 2017.

Please submit your documents by 9 April 2017. The Summer School is the fourth in a row and will be held from 5 to 17 June 2017 at the German-Kazakh University in Almaty.
Open position: CAWa Representative in Almaty
In support of our final project phase, we are looking for a highly motivated specialist in geosciences and water research, who would act as a CAWa representative in Almaty. Based at the German-Kazakh University in Almaty (Kazakhstan) and in close collaboration with the UNESCO Chair on Water Management in Central Asia, she or he would contribute to the dissemination of our project results. WUEMoCA Workshop sets roadmap for tool implementation
From 21st to 24th November 2016, the second workshop of CAWa Workpackage III “Water Use Efficiency Monitoring” was held in Würzburg (Germany). Project partners from SIC ICWC, CAREC, KRASS, green spin and Würzburg University reviewed the status of the WUEMoCA tool and discussed further steps in tool implementation. The workshop was organized and hosted by the project partner at the Department of Remote Sensing at the Institute of Geography and Geology, University of Würzburg.
First Regional MODSNOW User Workshop held in Tashkent
From 1st to 5th of August 2016, the first Regional MODSNOW User Workshop was held in Tashkent (Uzbekistan). The workshop was hosted by the Uzbek Hydrometeorological Service (Uzhydromet) and its Drought Monitoring Centre. Overall 20 participants from the national hydrometeorological services of the five Central Asian states Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan as well as scientists from Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan took part in the workshop.
