In the frame of the CAWa-Green project, implemented as part of the Green Central Asia initiative to Central Asia, the MODSNOW technical training was conducted for the employees of the Central Asian Institute of Applied Geosciences and the National Hydrometeorological Service of Kyrgyzstan (Kyrgyzhydromet). The topic of the training was on “Improving seasonal and monthly hydrological forecast quality using the MODSNOW-Tool”. The training took place for 3 weeks with two session for each week (Tuesday and Thursday). This format was chosen in order to apply the MODSNOW program to solve daily tasks of the hydrometeorological services and CAIAG. The participants obtained after each training assignments to be accomplished until next session and the results of each participant were thoroughly discussed.

In total 9 participants attended the online training. The participants were taught on how to apply the automated MODSNOW-Tool to improve their forecast models. All participants were motivated to accomplish assigned tasks with high quality, which led to interactive discussions. The obtained outcomes of this seminar (linear hydrological forecasts) are to be used as selected models to issue hydrological forecasts for the selected river basins in this year.
